Turkey Will Not Postpone Military Action in Northern Syria

Turkey will not shy away from or postpone its planned military action in northern Syria, stated the country’s Minister of National Defense, Hulusi Akar.

Earlier, Turkey's presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin announced that Ankara is ready for a new military operation in northern Syria, which could begin at any moment. The presence of Turkish forces in the border area of Syria, conducting operations against Kurdish formations, has been repeatedly termed illegal by Damascus, which has called for the withdrawal of Turkish troops.

“During the bilateral meetings we held in Madrid on the sidelines of the NATO summit, nothing of the sort occurred, and as our president stated, there can’t even be talk of agreeing to this. For us, there isn’t even room to discuss such a thing. As I said earlier, we have done everything necessary to ensure the security of our country and our lands, under the leadership of our president, and we are determined to do so in the future. Thank God, we are capable of it,” Akar said in response to a question about whether Turkey received advice at the NATO summit in Madrid to avoid or postpone the planned military operation in northern Syria.
