Video: Pilgrimage in India Ends in Tragedy; At Least 15 Dead, Many Missing
A pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave temple in India has ended in tragedy. At least 15 people have died, approximately 15,000 have been evacuated, and many are still missing.
The situation arose due to heavy rainfall in the region, which triggered sudden flooding. All the water accumulated in the cave overflowed, breaking through the ice-covered entrance.
Special rescue teams have arrived at the scene, as reported by local media. Rescue operations are ongoing.
It is noted that the pilgrimage had been canceled two years ago due to the pandemic, making this the first trip since then.
