"We will receive gas from Azerbaijan, it will end the Russian monopoly" - Bulgarian Prime Minister
The Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Kiril Petkov, has stated that the opening of the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector and the supply of Azerbaijani gas through it will "end the Russian monopoly." This information has been reported by РИА Новости.
"This is a symbol of achieving energy independence. The interconnector is starting to operate. I am proud to have led a government that completed this work in just six months," said the Prime Minister.
According to him, the support of the EU and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is creating a new geopolitical cooperation that has practical implications and changes the map of the region. Thanks to this, Bulgaria will start receiving gas from Azerbaijan in the coming weeks, which will put an end to the Russian monopoly.
