‘Intoxicated Prosecutor Exhibits Physical Resistance’: Ioannisyan Reveals Scandalous Details
IKM project coordinator Daniel Ioannisyan writes:
“Last night, patrol officers stopped Edgar Petrosyan, the senior prosecutor of the Erebouni and Nubarashen administrative districts of Yerevan, and found that he was driving under the influence. However, Prosecutor Petrosyan exhibited physical resistance, prompting the officers to use pepper spray and handcuffs, after which he was arrested.
The epic part of this story is that another prosecutor decided to release Edgar Poghosyan, who had committed violence against the police, and his arrest was deemed 'illegal'. Thus, in Armenia, there is a patrol service that doesn’t care who the intoxicated driver is, but there isn't a prosecutor's office that is free from the influence of Soviet-era traditions.
By the way, Edgar Poghosyan is the brother of former parliamentary member Gevorg Petrosyan from the Prosperous Armenia Party.”
