Armenian Billionaires in Forbes: Their Rankings and Wealth
The American magazine Forbes has published the global ranking of billionaires for 2022. A total of 2,668 businessmen are included in the list, with assets exceeding $1 billion. Among them are eight Armenians.
The richest person in the world is Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, whose fortune is estimated at $233.7 billion. Compared to last year, his wealth has increased by $9.1 billion.
In second place is the French businessman Bernard Arnault, the president of Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy, with a net worth of $150.8 billion. The top three is rounded out by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who has a fortune of $142 billion.
The richest Armenian is Samvel Karapetyan, a businessman residing in Russia and owner of the Tashir Group, whose wealth is estimated at $3.6 billion. He ranks 806th on the billionaire list.
The founder of the Magnit retail chain, Sergey Galitsky (Harutyunyan), ranks 880th with $3.3 billion, while the founder of the online dating service Badoo, Andrey Andreev (Ohanjanyants), is 1,461st with $2 billion.
Also with an estimated wealth of $2 billion, Noubar Afeyan, founder and CEO of Flagship Pioneering and Moderna Therapeutics, ranks 1,473rd. Kim Kardashian is 1,595th on the Forbes billionaire list with $1.8 billion, and Argentine-Armenian Eduardo Eurnekian is 1,955th with a fortune of $1.5 billion. Businessman and financier Ruben Vardanyan ranks 2,204th with $1.2 billion. Albert Avdolyan, engaged in the telecommunications sector, is in 2,281st place, also with $1.2 billion.
