If Georgia Starts a War with Russia: Kaha Kaladze's Forecast
The Mayor of Tbilisi, Kaha Kaladze, has stated that if Georgia were to engage in a war with Russia, the country would cease to exist entirely, according to Novosti-Georgia. He linked Georgia's candidate status for EU membership to its potential involvement in military operations against Russia.
“Firstly, a war will not start. There will be peace and tranquility in Georgia,” Kaladze emphasized, noting that the Georgian authorities will do everything possible to put the interests of the people and the country's security first.
“If the country starts a war, then not only will our status be at risk; we may not even have a country left. We saw this from the example of Ukraine, and although we should take a step back from that example, everyone should remember what happened in Georgia in 2008—lost territories, villages, countless lives, members of the government fleeing, destroyed cities, and so on. War is very heavy, and therefore we must do everything to ensure peace in the country,” the mayor said. Kaha Kaladze once again connects Georgia's candidate status for EU membership with the country's potential participation in military actions against Russia.
