Bundestag Appeals to Armenian Parliament Over Pregnant Woman Struck by Vehicle Accompanying Prime Minister

Members of the Bundestag have appealed to the National Assembly of Armenia regarding the case of Sona Mnatsakanyan, who was struck by a vehicle accompanying the Prime Minister. They expressed hope for a resolution to the criminal case in line with the rule of law, ensuring justice for any possible offenders. This was reported by defense attorney Raffi Aslanyan on his Facebook page.

"The members of the German parliament, the Bundestag, have addressed the National Assembly of Armenia concerning the criminal case triggered by the incident where Sona Mnatsakanyan was struck by a traffic police car accompanying the Prime Minister. They hope for a resolution through a judicial process that adheres to the rule of law and ensures justice for any potential wrongdoers," the post states.

They also drew the attention of Armenian parliamentarians to the incident, urging them to closely monitor the case and ensure justice for Sona Mnatsakanyan and her family. "One of the cornerstones of democratic and civil society coexistence, which Armenia aspires to and which Sona Mnatsakanyan has defended throughout her life, is the law, before which all individuals are equal, regardless of their rank and position involved," the letter reads.

It is recalled that on April 26, at approximately 18:05, at the intersection of Paronyan and Leo streets, the commander of the escort unit of the Armenian police's traffic department struck a 28-year-old resident of the Ararat region with the "Toyota Prado" vehicle he was driving, resulting in bodily injuries. The victim was taken to the Nairi Medical Center where she passed away without regaining consciousness. The motorcade was escorting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and the deceased woman was pregnant.
