Tension in Kovdor: Azerbaijanis Unable to Leave the Streets

Mass disturbances have occurred in Kovdor recently. It is reported that Azerbaijanis assaulted, shot at, and struck a 16-year-old Russian teenager with clubs a few days ago.

Videos circulating on the internet show a group of Azerbaijanis attacking the Russian boy. According to police, eight people have been arrested.

Media reports indicate that the altercation arose because bodyguards prevented a man from entering a nightclub with his underage girlfriend. Local residents reacted strongly and harshly to the incident, which led to the outbreak of mass disturbances in Kovdor.

Today, news outlets are reporting that there was a preliminary agreement to meet with representatives of the diaspora. It has also been reported that many Azerbaijanis who assaulted the Russian boys have already fled the city, as stated by Infoteka24.

Moreover, it is noted that Azerbaijanis are not venturing out into the streets due to the protests and sentiment of the Russians against them.
