Pavel Manukyan Transferred to Hospital

Former freedom fighter Pavel Manukyan, sentenced to imprisonment in the "Sasna Tsrer-1" case, has been transferred to the "Izmirlian" medical center, where he is scheduled to undergo surgery shortly.

Earlier, "Factinfo" reported that Manukyan has serious health issues and, according to his lawyer, the health problems he faces are incompatible with his imprisonment. The lawyer had submitted a request for Manukyan to be transferred from the "Nubarashen" Penitentiary to at least the "Prison Hospital" due to the lack of adequate medical care in the detention facility. The issue had also been raised by Manukyan's wife to the Human Rights Defender.

Ultimately, today, as stated by lawyer Zarouhi Postanjyan to "Factinfo," Manukyan has been transferred to the medical center.

It is worth noting that on June 24, 2021, the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan, presided over by Judge Mesrop Makyan, issued a verdict in the "Sasna Tsrer" case, according to which the criminal prosecution against Arayik Khandoyan was terminated due to death, while Pavel Manukyan was found guilty and sentenced to 7 years and 8 months in prison. Varuzhan Avetisyan received a sentence of 7 years and 4 months, Mkhitar Avetisyan was sentenced to 7 years, Edward Grigoryan to 6.5 years, Gagik Yeghiazaryan to 7 years and 5 months, Areg Kyureghyan to 7 years and 1 month, and Sedrak Nazaryan to 8 years and 2 months.
