Powerful Earthquake in Iran: Casualties and Injuries Reported
On July 2, at 01:32 local time (21:32 GMT on July 1), a magnitude 6.1 earthquake was recorded by the seismic monitoring network of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia, located at geographic coordinates 26.87° N latitude and 55.23° E longitude, 61 km northeast of Bandar Lengeh city in Hormozgan province of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The earthquake had a depth of 10 km.
The intensity of the tremors in the epicentral area reached 9 points on the Richter scale. According to preliminary reports, there are 5 fatalities and 44 injuries. The earthquake was not felt within the territory of the Republic of Armenia.
