Video: Drugs Discovered in Shipments from the USA, UK, and Italy
The State Revenue Committee (SRC) has thwarted an attempt to illegally import drugs through international postal deliveries. This was reported by the SRC's Information and Public Relations Department.
It is mentioned that in recent months, thanks to targeted analyses conducted by employees of the SRC's anti-smuggling department and the combined efforts of the Zvartnots division, international postal shipments imported into Armenia from the USA, UK, Italy, and Germany were subjected to customs inspection at Zvartnots Airport's Cargo terminal.
As a result, various weights and quantities of drugs resembling methamphetamine, MDMA (ecstasy), crystal, and mephedrone were found among high-risk targeted shipments. These substances were hidden within a disc box, playing cards, face masks, and packaging intended for equipment, among other things.
Materials have been prepared by the SRC's anti-smuggling department in relation to the facts under Article 267.1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, which are related to the characteristics of the crime, and were provided to the SRC's Investigation and Operational Intelligence Department along with the quantities of discovered drugs.
The SRC's anti-smuggling department urges citizens to refrain from such actions, as illegal importation of prohibited goods is under constant monitoring and targeted analysis.
