Video: Crimea Bridge in Smoke Cloud - What’s Happening
Crimean media outlets have released images showing smoke clouds in the area of the Crimea Bridge, which connects the peninsula to Russian territory, reports the BBC.
This information was commented on by the head of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, on his Telegram channel. He stated, "Regarding the smoke around the Crimea Bridge that the media and Telegram channels are reporting on. Law enforcement is conducting exercises in the vicinity of this strategic facility. It just so happens that this coincided with a road traffic accident on the bridge." Aksyonov reassured that there is "no danger to the bridge, the people, or Crimea."
Local media have reported that traffic has been temporarily closed on the bridge leading to Novorossiysk.
Earlier, representatives of the Ukrainian authorities stated that the Crimea Bridge, which among other things is used to transport military equipment to the peninsula, could be a legitimate target for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Simultaneously, Alexei Arestovich, an advisor to the head of the Ukrainian president's office, noted that the bridge is not a priority for the Ukrainian army since it is very well protected.
