During the NATO summit in Madrid, U.S. President Joe Biden broke royal protocol.

Contrary to the established rules, Joe Biden first greeted Queen Letizia instead of King Felipe VI, and then embraced the queen's waist.

Prior to this, reports indicated that the First Lady of the United States also put Queen Letizia in an awkward position by arriving late and forgetting to remove her sunglasses at the beginning of the meeting.
