Anna Vardapetyan Appointed as Armenia's Prosecutor General: Who is She?

The Civil Contract party has nominated Anna Vardapetyan, an assistant to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as the candidate for Prosecutor General of Armenia.

During an extraordinary session of the National Assembly, Anna Vardapetyan answered questions from representatives of the party that nominated her candidacy, while the opposition factions did not attend the session. After the Q&A and speeches, the ruling faction selected the sole candidate for prosecutor general through closed voting. The counting commission announced that Anna Vardapetyan was elected as Armenia's Prosecutor General with 70 votes in favor and none against.

Anna Vardapetyan will assume the powers of Prosecutor General in September when the current Prosecutor General, Artur Davtyan, completes his term.
