Armenian Army Returns to Georgian Mountains After Four-Year Hiatus
After a four-year hiatus, Armenian soldiers have once again participated in training sessions at the Sachkhere Mountain Training School in Georgia. According to the Georgian Ministry of Defense, the summer basic training course on mountain preparation lasted for three weeks as part of NATO's "Partnership for Peace" program.
Participants included military personnel from Georgia, the United States, Poland, Latvia, and Lithuania. During the exercise, the countries involved became familiar with the technical specifications of mountain equipment and its usage protocols. As a result of the training, attendees took general professional and physical tests.
Representatives of the Armenian army have periodically attended both the winter and summer courses at the Sachkhere Mountain Training School, studying various methods of movement across mountainous terrains. The last time the Armenian side participated in the Sachkhere courses was in January 2018, when representatives of the Armed Forces of Armenia trained alongside military personnel from Azerbaijan, Lithuania, and Poland.
A bilateral cooperation agreement on military matters between Armenia and Georgia is currently in effect, focusing on strategic planning, military education, medical services, and army militia exchange of experiences.
