Russian Defense Ministry Announces Cause of Damage to Residential Buildings in Kyiv

Igor Konashenkov, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, announced during a briefing today that Russian forces targeted Kyiv but emphasized that civilian facilities were not harmed by Russian strikes.

“On June 26, the Russian Aerospace Forces launched precision strikes with four high-precision missiles at the production facilities of the Artem missile manufacturing company in Kyiv. All four missiles reached their targets. Civilians infrastructure in Kyiv was not damaged,” said Konashenkov.

He explained that the shelling of a residential building in Kyiv, which resulted in one death, was due to the Ukrainian forces' use of air defense systems. “The Kyiv regime attempted to intercept Russian missiles with surface-to-air missile systems deployed in the city. Two missiles of the Ukrainian S-300 were shot down by Ukrainian Buk systems in the air. Presumably, one of the downed surface-to-air missiles fell onto a residential building,” Konashenkov stated.

It is noteworthy that on Sunday morning, high-rise buildings in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv were affected either by a missile strike or debris from a downed missile. One person was killed, and six others were injured.
