Defense Ministry Remains Silent on Soldier's Death for 5th Day: What the Investigative Committee Says

The Defense Ministry has not issued a statement for the fifth consecutive day regarding the death of Hratch Philiposyants, a soldier who sustained fatal injuries from enemy fire on June 18. Calls from NEWS.am to the Ministry of Defense have gone unanswered for several days.

The circumstances of the 19-year-old soldier's death remain unclear as the Defense Ministry continues its silence on the matter.

On June 18, David Shahnazaryan, the head of the Unified Vardenis faction in Vardenis Municipality, informed NEWS.am about the incident, stating that Hratch Philiposyants, who was killed as a result of enemy fire, was from the village of Byurakan in the Aragatsotn region and had been serving for one year. He was the oldest child in his family, with two younger brothers.

Hratch Philiposyants was laid to rest with military honors on June 21 in his hometown of Byurakan.

The Investigative Committee has confirmed that an investigation is underway to clarify the circumstances of the incident, and a statement will be made once more information is available.

It is worth noting that criminal cases are typically initiated by the Investigative Committee in incidents involving the deaths of soldiers due to fire from the Azerbaijani armed forces. However, no announcement has been made regarding the June 18 incident so far.

Recall that Auroranews.am was able to contact the Defense Ministry, where confirmation of the soldier's death was received, but no further details have been released either at that time or since.
