“Now the government must make a serious decision”: The Ministry of Economy on the situation at Upper Lars

Due to heavy rainfall and abundant precipitation that occurred yesterday, the 136th kilometer of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars highway, of international importance, has been damaged due to the flooding of the Tergi River. According to preliminary information, the Lars checkpoint will be closed for at least 10 days.

Auroranews contacted Anahit Khachoyan, Deputy Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Economy of Armenia, to understand what measures are being taken to solve the problem.

“This is not only the problem of the Ministry of Economy; the Ministry of Territorial Administration and the Customs Service, meaning the entire government is involved. The issue is technical—the road has collapsed. The damaged road is being restored from the Georgian side. Now the government must make a serious decision,” Khachoyan said in our conversation.
