Man Pulls Gun and Fires at Party in Stepanakert
On June 22, around 02:30, a resident of Stepanakert, identified as K.S., was invited by M.H. to a party organized at 3 Arakelyan Street. During a dispute at the table, after both parties exchanged inappropriate expressions, K.S. retrieved a firearm from the interior of his ‘UAZ-Patriot’ vehicle, which was loaded with live ammunition. Driven by an overt mania to assert his superiority and in an apparent act of disrespect towards the community and the attendees of the gathering, he fired shots, clearly disregarding societal norms and the rules of cohabitation expected in public relations, including the considerations for nighttime presence in the settlement, thus grossly violating public order.
This was reported by the Prosecutor's Office of Artsakh. Following the incident, on June 23, 2022, a criminal case was initiated by the investigative body. K.S. has been arrested and, by the decision of the pre-trial body on June 26, 2022, has been brought as an accused for allegedly committing a criminal act under part 4 of Article 269 of the Artsakh Criminal Code. A preventative measure has been selected in the form of a signature not to leave. The weapon used in the crime has been seized and recognized as material evidence.
An investigation is underway regarding the incident. Note: A person suspected or accused of a crime is considered innocent until proven guilty by a court ruling that has entered into legal force, according to the procedures established by the Artsakh Code of Criminal Procedure.
