Serzh Sargsyan Rejects Proposal to Join Armenia Fund Board of Trustees
The third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, did not participate in the 31st annual meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Armenia Fund today, as he previously expressed his disagreement with the official proposal to become a board member.
This information was provided by the office of the third President of Armenia. It is noteworthy that Sargsyan also rejected a proposal to participate in the Fund's meeting last October, considering it inappropriate.
“Until the Fund and the Government of Armenia ensure proper accountability and provide our people with substantiated, credible information regarding the spending directions of the billions of drams they have collected, their effectiveness, and compliance with the statutory purposes of the Fund, and until trust in the Fund is restored following a detailed examination, unfortunately, the operations of the Fund will continue to be carried out under conditions of tarnished reputation and distrust, which strikes a heavy blow to this important institution supporting the realization of pan-Armenian objectives,” Sargsyan remarked in response to the proposal to attend the Fund's meeting.
