Armenian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Vahan Hunanyan Responds to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's Statement
Armenian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Vahan Hunanyan has responded to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's statement regarding the cessation of the OSCE Minsk Group's activities.
In response to journalists' questions concerning recent comments, the Armenian Foreign Ministry emphasizes the 24th point of the joint statement by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and the President of the Russian Federation dated April 19, 2022. It states, "The leaders exchanged thoughts on the situation in the South Caucasus. Constructive work continues within the framework of periodic meetings of the leaders of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan, in favor of the consistent implementation of the agreements of November 9, 2020, January 11, 2021, and November 26, 2021, for the sake of ensuring stability, security, and economic development in the region. The decisive contribution of the Russian peacekeeping contingent to ensuring security in Nagorno-Karabakh and creating favorable and safe living conditions for the population was emphasized. The urgency of resolving humanitarian issues and the necessity of a political-diplomatic approach to the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement were also highlighted. In this context, the importance of utilizing the potential and expertise of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship, in accordance with its international mandate, was confirmed.
