Gas Pipes from Berdzor Dismantled and Sent to Shushi Region: Mayor
“There has been no gas in Berdzor since November 9, as there were damaged parts in the network, making gas supply dangerous. Now 'Artsakhgaz' is dismantling the gas pipes. According to my information, they are being transported to Hin Shen, Mets Shen, and Lisagor in the Shushi region for gasification,” Berdzor Mayor Narek Alexanyan told 24News.
Referring to the construction of a new road by Azerbaijan and discussions about handing over the Berdzor corridor to Azerbaijanis and evacuating residents, Narek Alexanyan noted that although Azerbaijan is building the road, the population continues to live in Berdzor without panic or concerns of packing their bags. There is no clarification on when the construction will be completed and for what purpose the road will be used. “According to circulating rumors, an alternative road connecting Artsakh to Armenia is being created, but when you see how intensively the Azerbaijanis are constructing the road, you think it’s likely that the alternative corridor will be relocated there. Regarding the evacuation of people, there is no official order,” he added.
When asked what concerns he has, the mayor responded: “Since September 27, a process starts every day, and any process is predictable. Russian peacekeepers are currently in the operating corridor, and the rumors that they have left the area are not true. As for the removal of electric wires, that is incorrect information; if electricity is cut off in Berdzor, there will be no light in Artsakh, as all power passes through Berdzor. Old power lines are being changed to new ones; electricity is turned off at 9 AM and restored in the evening to ensure uninterrupted lighting in Artsakh.”
In response to a question about the situation in Agavnо village, the mayor stated that the same situation exists in Agavno, and the population continues to live there.
