Closed-Door Talks Between UK and Turkey Defense Ministers
Closed-door negotiations took place in Ankara between Turkey's Defense Minister Hulusi Akar and his British counterpart Ben Wallace, who is currently visiting Turkey. This was reported by TRT.
According to the announcement, the meeting was conducted behind closed doors. The defense ministry heads discussed military operations in Ukraine, counter-terrorism efforts, and deepening cooperation in the defense industry. The issue of resolving the Ukrainian grain crisis was also addressed.
In his press statement, Hulusi Akar emphasized that relations between Turkey and the UK continue to be based on strategic partnership across all sectors. Currently, the ministries are working towards lifting export license restrictions in the defense industry.
The Turkish minister noted that it is essential to declare a ceasefire in Ukraine promptly to restore peace and stability in the region while supporting the independence, territorial integrity, and sovereignty of the war-affected country.
