They Were 15 People, on This Side There Were 5 People, They Shot Out of Fear: Former Chief of Police of Aparan

The former chief of police of Aparan, Ashot Hayrapetyan, claims that the argument between young people over yielding the road in Nigavan on June 19 was unnecessarily politicized, according to Aravot.am.

According to the publication, he asserts that the arrested Hayk Hovhannisyan has never been associated with the police and has no information about his political preferences.

"I don't know what the opposition is looking for, what they want to arrange; life is in reality. You have left the actual incident and fallen into opposition; I don't know what kind of opposition you're playing at. The incident has been futilely politicized; politics has nothing to do with the event and the fight. Again, I say—they are kids, they did not understand each other; it has turned into a drop of honey story. There were 15 of them, on this side there were 5, they pulled out of fear and shot; that’s it," said the former police chief, referring to media reports that the arrested Hayk Hovhannisyan supports the government and participated in and provoked recent opposition gatherings.
