Ukraine Attacks Russian Gas Platforms with Bayraktars, Says Russian Defense Ministry

Ukraine has decided to attack Russian gas platforms in the Black Sea following the failed attempt to seize Snake Island, as reported by the Russian Defense Ministry.

According to the statement, “The defeat forced the adversary to abandon landing troops at Snake Island. The Kyiv regime has embarked on a new adventure targeting the Russian gas extraction infrastructure in the northwestern part of the Black Sea.”

It was noted that on June 20, starting at 08:00, the VK-1 and Crimea-1 gas production platforms were struck by anti-ship missiles and Bayraktar TB2 drones.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the shelling resulted in a fire on the VK-1 platform, raising concerns of an ecological disaster in this part of the Black Sea.

Recall that on the early morning of February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to carry out a special military operation against Ukraine, following requests for assistance from the self-proclaimed LPR and DPR.

Combat operations in Ukraine have now entered their 118th day.
