Liana Davtyan on Embezzlement Allegations: 'They Can’t Find Anything Against Me'
Aravot.am reports that information has emerged regarding Liana Davtyan, head of the education, culture, and sports department of the Malatya-Sebastia administrative district. On June 14, the Malatya police received a letter from the district head alleging that Davtyan provided participants of sports events with food valued significantly less than the daily allowance of 1,200 drams.
In response to these allegations, Aravot.am spoke with Davtyan, who stated that the news came as a surprise to her, and she learned about it through the media. She insisted, 'This is misinformation; there is no such thing. Since the district head was appointed on March 4, they have dismissed about 41 employees, including all department heads. They even approached me with an offer to resign and become a kindergarten director, which I absolutely did not agree to. I requested more time, understanding that they didn’t want to work with me. I said I was willing to undergo retraining and then leave my position. They did not agree to that, and afterwards, they began to pursue me.'
Davtyan continued, 'I have continuously fulfilled all the assignments given to me, twice very properly. They later realized that they couldn't find anything against me because I have that respect, and I can carry out my work quite normally. I have been the department head for eight years and was awarded for good organization of work by the previous district head on December 25. The new head was appointed in March and decided that I must follow their directives.' She claims that while she complied with all instructions, the district head initiated a service investigation against her.
Regarding the sports event, Davtyan clarified, 'The sports event took place on April 28, and on that day, I received an order that needed to be implemented within 24 hours. I was not present at the event and did not sign any documents; I was not informed about anything at all. Yet, in abusing their official powers, they simply want to discredit my name. I have not received any calls from the police or the municipal office about this matter.' During the service investigation, she was questioned by a committee member, to which she answered just as she is now, explaining that she was not present and did not sign any documents.
'I was physically unable to participate in the sports event, hence I could not have witnessed anything. Be aware that what is written does not correspond to reality. This is their usual manipulation. They can’t find anything against me, so this is what they have done,' Davtyan stated.
Davtyan also assured that all documents related to the sports event were signed by the mayor and sent photos from the event as proof, showing the key figures in the event and how satisfied the district head was that day.
