Aparan's Former Police Chief Discusses Bloodshed Incident and His Job Dismissal
Aparan's police chief Ashot Hayrapetyan, who was dismissed from his position today, assured Aravot.am that he has not been fired but has moved to the staff reserve.
It was reported that by the order of the Chief of Police of Armenia, Vahe Ghazaryan, the head of the Aparan division, Police Colonel Ashot Hayrapetyan, has been dismissed. Police Major Rafael Poghosyan has been appointed to this position.
The former police chief stated, "The incident that occurred in Nigavan has absolutely nothing to do with my dismissal. I chose to move to the staff reserve due to health problems. I will get treated and will return again."
He added that the armed incident in Nigavan has been fully uncovered: "What occurred has nothing to do with politics; what was said does not correspond to reality. There was nothing between them, just a misunderstanding during a conversation, a signal was given from the car, and that’s what happened."
Hayrapetyan denied claims that there were insults directed at the Prime Minister by participants of the incident. He also mentioned that apart from Tigran Harutyunyan, there were no relatives of officials among those involved in the dispute.
It is noteworthy that the 28-year-old Tigran Harutyunyan, who died as a result of gunfire, is a relative of the mayor of Aparan, Karen Yeghiazaryan.
As a reminder, after the altercation near Nigavan on June 19, two individuals, both 27-year-old residents of Aparan, were transferred to the medical center with gunshot wounds and later died in the hospital, while five others were taken to medical centers, one of whom is also in severe condition. A 32-year-old man suspected of murder has been arrested.
