Opposition Calls for Emergency Gathering
Gegham Manukyan, a member of the National Assembly from the 'Armenia' faction and a member of the ARF, has made a post on his Facebook page announcing an emergency gathering today at 19:00 in France Square.
The post states:
“Emergency gathering in France Square (next to the statue of Aram Khachaturian)
Dear compatriots, we are gathering today at 19:00 in France Square and moving toward the offices of the Civil Contract party, the Police, and the NSS buildings.
Yesterday, another bloody incident occurred in Armenia involving representatives of the ruling party, resulting in three deaths and four injuries, along with the arrogant and criminal behavior of the authorities. Those responsible for creating this atmosphere of impunity must step down immediately. This bloody trend must be stopped.
We will meet at 19:00 in France Square.”
It should be noted that yesterday an armed incident occurred in Nigavan. According to press reports, a dispute arose between relatives of the Civil Contract deputy Matheos Asatryan, the uncle's son of Civil Contract's Aragatsotn deputy governor Edgar Parvanyan, and a group of young people from Aparan, during which gunfire was exchanged. The Investigative Committee and the police stated that the dispute was of a domestic nature, particularly concerning driving issues.
