Biden Considers Ukraine's EU Membership Likely
President Joe Biden of the United States has deemed Ukraine's entry into the EU very likely. He made this statement on Monday, June 20, during a press conference in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, as reported by Kp.ru.
“I think it’s very likely, very likely that it will happen,” Biden said in response to a question regarding Ukraine's potential membership in the European Union.
The American leader also stated that he does not plan to visit Ukraine during his scheduled trip to Europe at the end of June 2022, during which Biden will participate in the G7 summit in Germany and the NATO summit in Madrid.
Previously, Biden's wife, First Lady Jill Biden, traveled to Ukraine. She visited Uzhhorod, a trip that was not publicly announced in advance.
It is important to remember that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the application for Ukraine’s EU membership in February 2022. Poland has suggested that Ukraine should be admitted to the EU immediately. However, experts have pointed out five main reasons why Ukraine is not thriving in its EU membership aspirations, including corruption, poverty, and issues related to democracy.
