Opportunity to End the War on October 19, But It Happened on November 9: President

The Armenian people appreciate your efforts in resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Armenian President Vahagn Khachatryan said during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg, as reported by the Kremlin's press service.

"What you did during the military operations, your efforts that helped stop the war, are appreciated not only by me. I know that the people of Armenia appreciate it as well," Khachatryan stated, adding that the Armenian side wanted to end the war quickly.

"We wanted to end the war sooner, to somehow conclude the hostilities, and I am aware of your efforts. You had the opportunity to do this on October 19, 2020; we discussed this with Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov when he was in Yerevan. But it turned out that it ended on November 9, 2020. Nevertheless, the most important thing is that the war has stopped," Khachatryan noted.

He also emphasized the importance of Russian efforts to ensure that the agreements reached between the President of Russia, the Prime Minister of Armenia, and the President of Azerbaijan after the war are effectively formalized and maintained.
