VIDEO: Minister Continues Singing 'Little Dad Went to the Army...' While Discussing the Cancellation of Honors

There are no clear criteria for these honors regarding who should receive them and who should not, as they involve unnecessary classifications. This was stated by Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vahram Dumanyan during a press briefing following a government session, discussing the project to abolish the honorary titles of 'People's Artist of the Republic of Armenia,' 'People's Painter of the Republic of Armenia,' 'Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia,' and 'Honored Painter of the Republic of Armenia.'

'There are no clear criteria for these titles—who receives them, who is considered popular, who is honored? The titles we are keeping are those of esteemed figures in science, art, and culture. These are different matters. I believe that cultural figures should receive their recognition through participation in various cultural concerts, festivals, and competitions,' the minister noted.

In response to a journalist's question about whether it is possible, for example, to rescind the title of honor from a singer of the song 'Little Dad Went to the Army...', the minister reacted by continuing to sing the song: 'He took with him a sharp knife... It's not worth spending time on such matters. A certificate does not determine whether you are popular or honored.'
