Separate Conditions and Requirements for Airport Taxi Services to be Established

The government has adopted a decision aimed at regulating the process of providing taxi services within the airport premises. According to the justification, the organization of passenger taxi transportation at airports lacked legislative regulation, resulting in improper service delivery and unacceptable behavior by unscrupulous service providers, impacting both passengers and one another. Orders were often collected verbally, causing discomfort to citizens and guests.

Moreover, the vehicles involved in the service delivery are often old. Foreign nationals and tourists entering Armenia find themselves in uncomfortable situations, which is unacceptable from a tourism perspective. Additionally, organizations wishing to provide taxi services from the airport do not have access to the taxi parking area, creating unequal conditions for carriers.

The proposed regulations set out separate conditions and requirements for organizing airport taxi services, specifically including age restrictions for involved vehicles, requirements for external appearance and color, a ban on retrofitting the fuel systems of the vehicles, as well as conditions for providing taxi services and accepting orders within the airport area. As a result, civilized and higher quality service will be provided, involving newer vehicles with uniform external appearances in the service delivery process. Illegal transportations in the sector will be excluded.
