You Are Responsible for Our Fallen Soldiers and Innocent Civilians: Zelensky to German Chancellor
The Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, bears responsibility for the fallen Ukrainians, as he has not provided Ukraine with the promised heavy weapons. This was stated by Alexey Arestovich, an advisor to the President's Office, in an interview with the German publication Bild.
“If there is enough (weapons), we will win the war. When the West provided us with 120 long-range artillery, the situation on the front immediately changed. In three days, the Russians lost their pace of attack,” Arestovich said.
He reminded that Germany promised to supply Ukraine with 88 Leopard tanks and 50 Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft systems. “That would be enough for two brigades in the Ukrainian army. Now, if we had two brigades somewhere on the front line, we could retake Kherson or push them away from Popasna and Severodonetsk. Today, two brigades are a significant force,” he stated.
When asked what he would say to Scholz if they met, Arestovich replied, “Mr. Scholz, you are responsible for our fallen soldiers and innocent civilians. Every day, children are dying; we lose 100 soldiers every day because you are not giving us heavy weaponry. The Ukrainian army is strong; we can defeat the Russians and drive them out of our country, but we need weapons.”
