We Disagree with the Central Bank's Forecasts: Kerobyan
The economy of Armenia was very lively at the beginning of the year; however, the recent events have had both positive as well as significant negative impacts on our economy. We completely disagree with the Central Bank's previous forecast of a 1.5% economic growth, and we still hold differing views. We have no influence over the Central Bank's operations, but we see widespread dissatisfaction from various economic sectors regarding such policies. This was noted by the Minister of Economy, Vahan Kerobyan, during a conversation with reporters.
“We have experienced this before, between 2004-2007, and it brought about no good; the manufacturing industry can be said to have been destroyed during those years. Now we must do everything we can to prevent such a scenario from repeating. We are in discussions, trying to find solutions, and convincing our partners that we need to find other tools to combat inflation, rather than artificially strengthening the dram,” the minister stated.
