Number of Those Wanting to Destroy Us is Greater Than One Might Assume, Says Pashinyan
No one can guarantee that the peace agenda will be successful, but the Armenian government has the will and determination to pursue this path, stated Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the National Assembly.
“The ship of Armenian statehood has found itself in the maelstrom of a violent storm, because essentially the entire world has found itself in a maelstrom of a violent storm. Back in January 2021, we thought we were in a maelstrom of a violent storm, only to realize that a global storm is unfolding through us. The existence of neither small nor large states is unfortunately guaranteed, and the only guarantee that can exist for a state and security is comprehensive peace,” he said.
According to the Prime Minister, comprehensive security is when issues with neighbors are resolved and regulated, borders are delineated and demarcated, and peace is established de jure. “We are now trying to go down exactly this path. Whether we can succeed or not, no one can guarantee, because peace is not a one-sided movement, but rather the result of cooperation. We have no illusions and see that the number of those who wish to destroy us is large, larger than one might assume. The peace agenda is an attempt to manage and neutralize the desires for our destruction that exist in the world,” Pashinyan emphasized.
“No one can guarantee that the peace agenda will be successful; it is a path filled both inside and outside with insults, accusations, threats, dangers, and losses, and we have the will and determination to pursue this path, despite the fact that no one can guarantee success,” he added.
The Prime Minister assured that the opposite path leads not only to the destruction of Nagorno-Karabakh but also to the downfall of Armenia. “And we certainly cannot allow this. Therefore, I call upon the Armenian people and the people of Armenia to unite around the peace agenda, around Armenian statehood and its interests, because there is nothing more important and higher than Armenia and its state interests. Long live freedom, long live Armenia, long live our children who will live in a free and happy Armenia. Glory to our martyrs,” concluded the Prime Minister.
