Immediate Return of Individuals in Azerbaijan on the Agenda, Says Ruben Rubinyan
The Vice President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Ruben Rubinyan, received a delegation led by Margareta Cederfeldt, President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, during her working visit to Armenia on June 15.
Also present at the meeting were Eduard Aghajanian, head of the Armenian delegation to the OSCE PA, and Arman Yeghoyan, chair of the NA Standing Committee on European Integration.
Welcoming the guests, Rubinyan emphasized the importance of cooperation between Armenia and the OSCE PA. The discussion also touched upon the normalization process of Armenia-Turkey relations.
Rubinyan presented the current situation in the region following the 44-day war, highlighting Azerbaijan's bellicose statements and actions, as well as unresolved humanitarian issues. According to him, despite numerous calls from the international community, Azerbaijan continues to use Armenian prisoners of war and other detained individuals as political hostages.
He noted that the immediate return of individuals in Azerbaijan is on Armenia's agenda.
The President of the OSCE PA underscored the importance of establishing lasting peace in the region and lauded the efforts of the Armenian side in this regard. In speaking about cooperation within the framework of the organization, Margareta Cederfeldt highly appreciated the work of the Armenian delegation in the OSCE PA.
