Armenian Diocese of Germany Addresses Incident of Pedestrian Struck by Armenian Driver in Berlin

The Armenian Diocese of Germany strongly condemns the incident that occurred on the morning of June 9, where a 29-year-old man struck pedestrians in Berlin, resulting in one death and several injuries, including school-aged children.

According to a statement from the Diocese, reported by Armenpress, "According to press reports, the perpetrator of this inhumane and barbaric act is likely an Armenian citizen named Gor H., although this information has not yet been fully confirmed. Furthermore, media reports indicate that the individual may have had mental health issues and likely acted under the conditions of a mental disorder. We hope that the police and relevant authorities will clarify all the details related to this tragic incident."

The Diocese has also clarified that, according to their information, the perpetrator is unknown to community circles. "At this moment, we do not know anyone who recognizes him. Nevertheless, regardless of the motives behind the act, or who the perpetrator is, the Armenian leadership in Germany firmly condemns this inhumane act and expresses its solidarity with all the victims. We reject any act of this nature, regardless of the perpetrator’s citizenship or national-religious affiliation. We pray for the peaceful repose of the soul of the victim of the crime, as well as for the swift recovery and health of all the injured," the statement concludes.
