We are having very intensive discussions on this issue with Russia: Pashinyan to Lavrov
Russia and Armenia are strategic partners and allies, and our agenda is very broad and diverse. It includes bilateral issues as well as regional and international ones, stated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
“The main issue on the agenda relates to regional security and the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem. We are having very intensive discussions on this issue with Russia and other matters, such as the opening of regional communications. Recently, a trilateral working group meeting was held in Moscow, chaired by the Deputy Prime Ministers of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan. I hope that in the near future we will be able to reach concrete agreements and ultimately resolve this strategically important issue for the entire region, for the sake of stability and peace,” said Pashinyan.
He also announced that a bilateral working group meeting on border delimitation and demarcation between Armenia and Azerbaijan has recently taken place.
“It is already planned that the second meeting will take place in Moscow, and the third in Brussels. In this context, we hope that with the support of Russia, this process will develop smoothly and effectively,” Pashinyan noted.
He emphasized the importance of the return of prisoners of war, hostages, and other individuals held by Azerbaijan, which are still in Azerbaijan contrary to the November 9, 2020 trilateral statement. “In this matter as well, we hope that with the support of Russia, this humanitarian issue will be fully resolved,” Pashinyan stated.
