Russian Foreign Ministry Alters Lavrov's Statement Made in Yerevan
The Russian Foreign Ministry has published the transcript of Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's press conference held on June 9 with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, in which Lavrov's response regarding the village of Parukh in Artsakh has been significantly altered.
It is worth noting that yesterday, Lavrov stated in response to a relevant question that the situation around the village of Parukh is a priority for Russian military personnel. According to Lavrov, there have already been some results regarding the de-escalation of the situation.
“We are aware that within the framework of substantive work that is to start on the issue of border delimitation, these issues will be discussed and will definitely be resolved,” Lavrov had said.
However, the Russian Foreign Ministry's transcript cites Lavrov’s response as follows: “We hope that the activation of the border delimitation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan will contribute to building confidence between Baku and Yerevan and will not allow incidents like that in Parukh within the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping forces.”
