NATO Secretary General Cancels Visit to Germany Due to Herpes
The visit of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to Berlin, scheduled for today, has been canceled.
"The NATO Secretary General has announced that he has unexpectedly canceled his trip to Berlin," said a statement from the German Ministry of Defense.
Reuters, citing an anonymous NATO representative, explained the cancellation of Stoltenberg's visit. The reason is that he has been diagnosed with shingles.
In Berlin, the NATO Secretary General was set to meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht.
According to agency reports, Stoltenberg may have been experiencing symptoms related to the effects of COVID-19. Shingles is a viral infection characterized by severe pain and a rash on the skin.
