White House on Armenian-Azerbaijani Relations

The White House has issued a statement following a meeting between U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan. The statement notes that the parties discussed processes in the South Caucasus, among other topics.

“Sullivan conveyed the United States' commitment to peace, security, and prosperity in the South Caucasus region. He praised the significant and historic diplomatic efforts aimed at establishing sustainable peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Sullivan expressed support for the negotiations organized by European Council President Charles Michel. He conveyed the U.S. readiness to engage closely and support progress through various means, including serving as a co-chair of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group,” the statement reads.
