Kondi Residents Oppose Polyclinic Optimization Program: Tovmasyan
The project of the Yerevan City Council to merge Polyclinics No. 1, 5, and the 'City Endocrinology Dispansary' with Polyclinic No. 4 has sparked outrage among the majority of residents using these facilities. This was stated by Taguhi Tovmasyan, a member of the National Assembly’s 'My Step' faction and chair of the NA Standing Committee on Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs, in a post on Facebook.
'Quickly responding to citizens' concerns, I instructed experts from the NA Standing Committee on Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs to visit Polyclinic No. 1, speak with the medical staff, and talk to the residents of Kondi to record the issues,' she noted.
According to the head of the polyclinic, N. Davtyan, the main concern of the medical staff is the reduction of positions, though reassurances from Deputy Mayor Gevorg Simonian have given them hope on this issue. Medical workers are also worried about the challenges their patients face due to mobility issues, as there are disabled people who cannot walk long distances.
Kondi residents are opposed to the optimization program for the polyclinics. Their primary concerns include mobility issues, lack of direct transport connections, and transport costs, which many cannot afford. Furthermore, they fear that these inconveniences are deliberately being created to drive residents away from Kondi.
The City Hall notes that they are aware of the residents' concerns and regularly hold discussions with them; however, they believe that the project will ultimately justify itself, and many will be grateful for the program.
Any decisions made should first ensure that residents' right to be heard is respected, and they must be informed in advance about decisions that affect them.'
