Tensions Persist in the South Caucasus: Zas
Despite progress in the Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiation process, tensions continue to prevail in the South Caucasus. This was stated by CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas during a session of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly held in Yerevan.
“The trilateral agreement of November 9, 2020, continues to play a significant role in stabilizing the situation. The successful completion of border demarcation and delimitation between Armenia and Azerbaijan can undoubtedly make a considerable contribution to enhancing the security of the entire region,” Zas emphasized, as reported by Armenpress.
In the complex conditions created in the Eurasian region, the CSTO Secretary General sees the necessity for unity among member states, as well as further development of activities in foreign relations, strengthening defense, improving crisis response forces, and conducting comprehensive measures to overcome modern challenges and threats.
