Entry of Lavrov's Plane into Serbia Blocked by Several Countries' Airspace
Bulgaria, North Macedonia, and Montenegro have closed their airspace to the plane of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. This is reported by the Serbian newspaper Vecherne Novosti, citing its own sources, as reported by TASS.
According to the newspaper, the minister's scheduled visit to Serbia on June 6-7 is now "under a big question mark." The administration of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić is currently refraining from commenting on the situation. The president's press service announced on Sunday that the Russian ambassador to Belgrade, Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, will meet with them on Monday at 10:00 a.m. (11:00 a.m. Moscow time).
On Friday, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, informed that the Foreign Minister would visit Serbia on June 6-7, during which he would meet with the country's president, hold talks with the foreign minister, and is expected to meet with the speaker of the National Assembly.
According to the diplomat, the parties are expected to discuss issues of bilateral political and economic cooperation, exchange views on the situation in the Balkan region, as well as a number of international issues.
