Prosecutor's Office on Case of Pregnant Woman Hit by Prime Minister's Motorcade
The Prosecutor's Office has filed an appeal against the decision of the First Instance Court regarding the case of a pregnant woman being hit by a motorcade of the Prime Minister. Gohar Abrahamyan, an advisor to the Attorney General, stated in an interview with ArmDaily.am that the prosecutor had instructed to submit a motion to the court for the use of detention as a preventive measure against the accused.
“The prosecutor instructed that a request be made to choose detention as a preventive measure, which the investigative body did, but the court rejected the motion. In this case, the Prosecutor's Office has appealed, but at this moment, I am not informed when the appeal will be reviewed,” Abrahamyan conveyed.
It should be recalled that on April 26, around 6:20 PM, a fatal traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Leo and Paronyan Streets in Yerevan, resulting in the death of a 28-year-old pregnant woman. After the incident, it became clear that the woman had been hit by a vehicle from the traffic police escorting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The Investigative Committee later announced that the driver responsible for the incident was the commander of the escort unit. A criminal case has been initiated.
