Injured Soldier Taken to Village in Sleeping Bag: Why Did He Die from Foot Wounds? Karin Tonoyan
The mother of Menua Hovhannisyan, who was killed during the 44-day Artsakh war, has highlighted that her son succumbed after being transported in a sleeping bag to the village. Karin Tonoyan, the leader of the '5165' movement, stated, 'Is there anyone in this country who can explain how an injured soldier dies a few hours later? They say he died because he was taken in a sleeping bag to the village. Just imagine how much blood he must have lost on the way, while he was only wounded in the foot; they should have managed to save him. God help us... How many more mothers must mourn... What kind of army are you maintaining? Scared soldiers, incapable commanders; there are positions where injured soldiers can’t even be evacuated... The roads are neglected, and there are no standby vehicles in remote positions... How can you treat your own people with such cruelty...' she wrote.
It is noteworthy that the Armenian Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case regarding the soldier's death under Article 104, Part 2, Points 7 and 13 of the Armenian Criminal Code (murder motivated by national, racial, or religious hatred or fanaticism).
