Criminal Case Launched Against Red Berets for Assaulting MP Artsvik Minasyan

A criminal case has been initiated regarding the use of violence against MP Artsvik Minasyan by police officers during peaceful protests in Yerevan, based on Part 2 of Article 309 of the RA Criminal Code, which addresses the abuse of official authority involving violence. This was confirmed in a conversation with Factinfo by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee.

It should be noted that the incident occurred in a location adjacent to France Square on May 18. Cameras captured approximately 10 armed officers attacking Minasyan, dragging him, and pushing him into a police vehicle. Subsequently, a higher-ranking officer approached and removed him from the car.

Shortly thereafter, another group of policemen attempted to forcibly place him into a different police minibus, but again, a senior officer intervened and released him.

A service investigation has been initiated by the police regarding the incident, while lawyer Vahe Grigoryan has filed a complaint with the RA Prosecutor General's Office, demanding the initiation of a criminal case.
