“The War Will Be Long, Russia's Aggressiveness Will Increase” – Borrell
The conflict in Ukraine is dragging on, which necessitates continued pressure on Russia through sanctions. This statement was made by the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, during a radio interview with France Info.
He called for continued support to Ukraine with fighting means and for economic pressure on Russia, whose economy is “already starting to halt.” According to him, further pressure will allow Ukraine to secure a more advantageous position in future peace negotiations.
“The war will be long, Russia's aggressiveness will increase,” Borrell stated.
He reminded that last week, the foreign ministers of EU countries agreed on allocating additional resources for Ukraine to purchase weapons. As reported by REGNUM agency, Borrell hopes that EU countries will soon reach an agreement on the sixth package of sanctions against Russia.
