Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Responds to Armenia's Foreign Ministry

Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry has issued a statement asserting that it did not violate the ceasefire regime on May 28, 2022. According to Baku, the allegations made by Armenia's Foreign Ministry regarding the alleged violation of the ceasefire are disinformation.

"While efforts are being made to normalize relations between the two countries, the defamatory and destructive statements from the Armenian side aim to undermine the steps taken towards normalization, as well as the process of delimiting the state border. The recent destructive approach demonstrated by Armenia's Foreign Ministry is clearly directed at disrupting the results of the Brussels meetings aimed at the normalization of relations between Yerevan and Baku," the statement reads.

It is noteworthy that on May 28, around 10:40 AM, Azerbaijani Armed Forces opened fire from various caliber firearms, including sniper rifles, toward the Armenian positions located in the southeastern section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. This incident resulted in the fatal shooting of conscript soldier David Vahan Vardanian.

Additionally, the Armenian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on May 28, strongly condemning the gross violation of the ceasefire regime by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the southeastern direction of the Armenian border zone.
