Iran's Consulate to Be Established in Kapan, Agreement at State Level, Says Iranian Ambassador to Armenia

The Iranian and Armenian sides have reached a state-level agreement to establish an Iranian consulate in the city of Kapan in Armenia’s Syunik Province, announced Abbas Badakhsan Zohouri, the Iranian ambassador to Armenia, in response to a question from Armenpress.

“Work has begun, but we have not yet acquired the appropriate space. This demonstrates the importance of this province for both Iran and Armenia,” he added.

According to Zohouri, this will create an excellent opportunity for cooperation between Armenia’s bordering provinces and Iran's adjacent provinces such as Tabriz and West Azerbaijan, with trade potentially gaining new momentum and meaning.

“We plan various collaborations between the bordering provinces and regions in scientific, academic, economic, and other fields, and we are also developing excellent tourism projects that will take place in Syunik in the near future. This can help the peoples of both countries become better acquainted with each other,” he said.
